Granola does one job extremely well: it listens to your meeting, merges what was
said with what you typed, and hands you notes that are better than either. If
your working day is calls, it is an easy recommendation and this page is not
going to argue otherwise.

## Where Granola is the better choice

- **In a meeting, nothing here competes.** Live transcription merged with your
  own typing, structured afterwards. NoteMCP has no meeting mode at all.
- **It knows your calendar** and shows up for the call without being asked.
- **It is built for a specific, painful job** and does not ask you to configure
  anything to get it done.

## Where NoteMCP is the better choice

- **Everything that is not a meeting.** The article you want to read later, the
  screenshot of a design, the thought on a walk. Granola has no place to put
  any of it.
- **AI access on every plan.** NoteMCP's MCP endpoint is included on the free
  plan rather than being a paid-tier feature.
- **A free plan that caps a count, not a calendar.** Notes do not expire.
- **Voice notes on their own terms** — record forty seconds without a meeting
  attached to it.
- **Phone-first capture**, on Android and iPhone, not a desktop app you have to
  be sitting at.
- **The code is public.**

## The real difference

Granola is a specialist. That is a compliment, and it is also the constraint:
the value arrives when a meeting starts and stops when it ends. If your notes
are only ever meetings, that is a perfect fit.

The trouble is what happens to everything else. A specialist tool teaches you
that notes go where the tool is, so the things it does not accept end up in
four other places — a chat with yourself, a screenshot roll, a text file, the
back of your hand. When you later ask an assistant what you know about a
subject, it reads one of those five places.

NoteMCP's argument is not that it takes meetings better. It is that having one

## Running both

### Does Granola support MCP?

Granola has offered Model Context Protocol access on its paid plans. Check its
current pricing page before relying on that, because the tiering has changed.

### Can NoteMCP transcribe a meeting?

It transcribes voice notes you record, including long ones and ones that switch
language mid-sentence — but it does not join calls, read your calendar, or

### What happens to my Granola notes after the free trial?

Granola's free plan has been time-limited rather than count-limited, which means
old notes stop being available to you rather than being capped in number. Check
